Why I moved away

“I wanted to pursue a career in theater, and at the time, in the late ‘80s, the best location for that was College of Santa Fe. So that's what led me out of state to begin with, and then I had my sights set on New York. In the late 1980s, early ‘90s, there was not much of a professional opportunity for that career in Louisiana. I was gone for close to 20 years. I never thought I would come back. Never, in a million years, ever. Not part of the plan.”

Why I moved back

“Katrina happened, and I knee-jerked and said, “I want to move home.” And my wife said, “That's crazy. We've got three daughters under the age of 4. What are you talking about?” She took a big leap. My Minnesota wife trusted me, and we came back to New Orleans without a plan, and we figured it out. We just wanted to help rebuild. Moving back home was a blank canvas. There was no road map, and it was a lot of risk, a big leap. But right opportunities are born out of necessity, and that's what was in front of me. ”
